Snapchat I got from the fiancé. I sont care what its about, when they start sendig pictures of cars or funny things on cars, you have infected them with the “Jalop”.

She doesn’t get my obsession with wagons or the Toyota Century though so I have some work to do. Also I bet that rack destroys some of the gas mileage on that Prius.

ONLY send rack pics on Snapchat. Too dangerous anywhere else.

I doubt it has much negative aero effect...it's basically drafting itself, but with no rolling resistance. That's part of why trailer carriers are so popular.

Design a hitch rack right, and you’d even get a positive aero effect.

(“Right” in this case basically means streamlined into the roofline, as well as following the contour of the car’s underbody.)

Exactly, and a well-placed couple of bags or cooler could actually extend the “boat tail” into the low-pressure zone and create an improvement. Probably not much, but hey.

Now I kinda want to go all Ecomodder on my Prius, but in a removable hitch rack, designed to slide out for access to the hatch area.

The Curt hitch for it, annoyingly, doesn’t use all of the unibody attachment points that Toyota designed for towing loads (which would be even more important if your load is all tongue weight, as with a hitch rack), but it does work with the stock bumper beam, whereas the European-market Toyota one does not.
